What FreeVoice Is

FreeVoice AAC is a free, open-source augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) application. It is provided as-is, at no cost, with no warranty.

Not Medical Advice

FreeVoice is a communication tool, not a medical device. It is not a substitute for professional speech-language pathology services. Consult a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) for clinical AAC assessment and recommendations.

Privacy

FreeVoice collects zero data. No accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising. All data (boards, settings, voice preferences) is stored locally on your device using IndexedDB. If you delete the app or clear browser data, all data is permanently gone. We have no copy.

Symbols

FreeVoice uses a combination of custom AI-generated illustrations created by Shellcraft Labs and pictographic symbols provided by ARASAAC (Aragonese Portal of Augmentative and Alternative Communication), created by Sergio Palao for the Government of Aragon, Spain. ARASAAC symbols are used under Creative Commons BY-NC-SA 4.0. Custom character emotion art and category icons are original works by Shellcraft Labs LLC, generated with AI assistance.

AI Voices

AI voice synthesis is powered by Kokoro TTS (Apache 2.0 license), running entirely on-device via WebAssembly. No audio data is ever transmitted to any server.

License

FreeVoice source code is licensed under the MIT License. You are free to use, modify, and distribute it.

Limitation of Liability

FreeVoice is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Shellcraft Labs LLC shall not be liable for any damages arising from the use of this software.
